Afghan Girl for Peace

This unique artwork was exclusively commissioned by the Council on Global Relations to stand as the symbolic image of enduring peace in Afghanistan.
The proceeds from the sale of the artwork will go toward immediate humanitarian food assistance for Afghan children and families, as well as support the work of CGR on behalf of peace in Afghanistan.

The art features an Afghan girl wearing a famed Pashtun red scarf, holding a dove of peace from Mazar-e-Sharif. Behind her are mosaics from Herat, the towering Hindukush Mountains, and the emerald hills of Maimana. The crimson rugs woven in Bamiyan adorn the background with the words of peace. A poem of peace by the Afghan poet, Maulana Rumi resonates with what’s in the heart of the Afghan Girl of Peace.
